Job Sections & Tasks - Organise Field Service Work
Sections and tasks let you break down complex jobs into manageable pieces. Each section can have its own tasks, notes, and media attachments.
Job Sections
Section titled “Job Sections”Sections are logical groupings within a job. They help organise work that happens in different areas or involves different types of activity.
Creating Sections
Section titled “Creating Sections”- Open a job and tap “Add Section”
- Give the section a name (e.g., “Ground Floor”, “Electrical Systems”)
- Optionally add a description
- Save
Section Management
Section titled “Section Management”- View sections: All sections appear in the job detail view
- Reorder sections: Drag to rearrange
- Edit sections: Update name or description
- Delete sections: Remove unwanted sections
Use Cases for Sections
Section titled “Use Cases for Sections”| Industry | Example Sections |

Tasks Within Sections
Section titled “Tasks Within Sections”Each section can contain multiple tasks — detailed checklist items that guide the field team.
Creating Tasks
Section titled “Creating Tasks”- Open a section
- Tap “Add Task”
- Enter task details:
- Name: What needs to be done
- Description: Detailed instructions (optional)
- Save
Completing Tasks
Section titled “Completing Tasks”Field teams complete tasks during the job:
- Open the section
- Tap the checkbox next to each completed task
- Add notes about how the task was performed
- Take photos to document the work
Section Notes
Section titled “Section Notes”Notes capture important observations, instructions, or special circumstances within a section.
Creating Notes
Section titled “Creating Notes”- Open a section
- Tap “Add Note”
- Write the note content (supports rich text formatting)
- Optionally attach photos or videos
- Save
Date-Specific Notes
Section titled “Date-Specific Notes”Add notes that apply to specific dates:
- Schedule notes for future visits
- Document conditions on a particular day
- Flag recurring issues with timestamps
Task Templates vs Custom Tasks
Section titled “Task Templates vs Custom Tasks”Task Templates
Section titled “Task Templates”Create reusable tasks that you can attach to any job:
- Saved in the organisation’s template library
- Can be used across multiple jobs and templates
- Update once to apply to all future jobs
Custom Tasks
Section titled “Custom Tasks”One-off tasks created for a specific job:
- Not saved to the template library
- Perfect for unique or unusual requirements
- Deleted when the job is completed
Media in Sections & Tasks
Section titled “Media in Sections & Tasks”Attach visual evidence to any section, task, or note:
- Photos: Capture conditions, completed work, or issues
- Videos: Record walk-throughs, demonstrations, or inspections
- Voice notes: Hands-free documentation
All media is timestamped and linked to the specific section or task for complete traceability.
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Use sections for physical areas of a site to keep work organised
- Create task templates for repetitive work to save time
- Add photos to key tasks for visual proof of completion
- Use notes to capture observations that don’t fit a specific task
- Review completed sections before finalising the job
